About the Babies

Most of the Dream Baby dolls start their lives as vinyl Berenguer play dolls, or as collector-quality vinyl or silicone-vinyl dolls.  . The basic doll is used as a "canvas" to create a unique, lifelike artist doll.

Baby's Skin

The vinyl dolls are disassembled and the cloth bodies are discarded. The vinyl parts are carefully painted on the inside with a special mixture of high quality artist acrylic paints. The baby is then blushed, highlighted, and shaded. This process takes a number of days, to allow each layer of paint to fully set into the vinyl before the next is applied.

Baby's Hair

No baldies here! Each Dream Baby is given a beautiful head of hair. Most of our babies have hand-rooted mohair, which means that the hairs are inserted one at a time into the baby's scalp, for a very realistic look. The hair can be rooted sparsely, for a very newborn look, or more thickly. You can choose any color of hair that you desire - if we don't have it, we will hand-dye it to any shade.

Some of our Babies receive high quality mohair wigs, which are attached permanently to the baby's scalp, and the lower layer of hair is hand-applied.

Baby's Nails

Each teensy tiny little fingernail and toenail is hand-painted with a mixture of acrylic paints to create a beautiful little nail bed and "just clipped' appearance. The nails are then sealed with three coats of satin finish to protect the paint.

Baby's Eyes, Nose, and Mouth

All of our Babies have their factory eyes replaced with beautiful realistic acrylic or glass eyes. Top, and sometimes bottom, eyelashes are carefully applied and trimmed to grow shorter and more sparse as they near the nose.

Dream Baby dolls have their noses opened so that they are able to 'breathe'. This adds to the realistic appearance that we try to achieve with each Baby.  Silicone-Vinyl Dream Babies have their nostrils shaded so that the integrity of their soft vinyl is kept intact, but the illusion of an open nose is maintained.

Baby's Body

When a new Dream Baby is nearing completion, a new fully-jointed body is custom-sewn just for her.  The new body is realistically proportioned in size, and is weighted to create a floppy new-baby feel.  Dream Babies are meant for snuggling, and their new body has been designed to cuddle right into their new Mommy's arms.

Payment Plans and Policies

All Dream Baby Doll purchases are subject to the following terms and conditions. 

Payments Accepted

Payments can be made by money order, Paypal, or bank transfer. 

Layaway Plans

Custom Babies and Babies purchased directly through this site are eligible for our easy, no interest layaway plan. You determine when to make your payments, and for how much ~ whatever works best for you!

Payments must be received each month, and if 2 (two) payments are missed, the layaway plan will be cancelled. Layaway payments are non-refundable.

Custom Babies

A 50% down payment is required to start all custom dolls. This is payable in one lump sum, or may be paid in installments as a layaway plan. The remainder of the payment is due when the doll is completed and pictures have been approved by you. Dolls are shipped within 3 (three) days of payment.

Ebay Babies

100% payment is required within 2 (two) weeks of auction end. Other payment plans may be accommodated, but they must be agreed upon before the end of the auction.
